Welcome to the “Tell Your Story” highlight reel.
If you haven’t guessed it, everyone has a story. Within each, is identifiable life experiences, anyone can glean from if open to receive.
This is a brief Highlight Reel of anothers’ life journey designed to inspire. Have a coffee/tea and read on as Nicola shares her story.
My name’s Nicola and I’m a blogoholic. I write blogs, I read blogs, I study blogs and how to make them better. I love blogging, and I love writing about blogging.
Why did you start blogging?
I started my blog, Nic’s Healthy Life, back in 2015 as a way to share my passion for health and fitness with the world and to connect with like-minded people. Five years later and the blog is still going strong but has since evolved to include topics such as personal development, minimalism, product reviews and blogging tips.
What hurdles (mental or physical) did you have to overcome to get your blog started and continue on today?
I didn’t really have to overcome any hurdles to start my blog as I love writing and I’d had another blog before, so I kind of knew what I was doing. However, blogging is definitely a learning curve and I’m still finding out new things every day. I think it’s important to invest in yourself and your blog if you want to make it work, by buying courses, reading ebooks and connecting with other bloggers, especially those who have been blogging for longer than you and can offer help and advice.
What advice would you share with someone who wants to start blogging?
Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme. You may have seen “start a blog” in those articles about how to make passive income online, but it’s a lot of work and you probably won’t see any money at all for the first few months, and even when you do start making an income, it won’t be huge at first (if ever). You can definitely make money blogging (I do) BUT I wouldn’t recommend leaving your 9-5 to start a blog. You should blog primarily for the love of writing or passion for your subject.
